We can provide partial or full travel support to students and junior researchers subject to availability of funds. For full consideration, please email the organizers to request support before the Sep 13th registration deadline.
The workshop is organized to facilitate transfer of ideas between researchers in tensor computations from various fields, including scientific and machine learning applications, algorithms, software, compilers, and architectures. The workshop will encompass research on topics including
algorithms for tensor decomposition and completion
tensor network methods
tensor contractions and tensor algebra
tensor eigenvalues
tensor models of quantum systems
low-rank tensor approximations for dynamical systems / numerical PDEs
graph and hypergraph processing for/via sparse tensors
tensor decomposition models for high-dimensional sparse datasets
sparse tensor formats
software and algorithms for tensor redistribution/transposition
compilers and automated software for sparse tensor kernels
specialized hardware/microarchitecture designs for sparse tensor algebra
The conference location 200 S Wacker Dr is adjacent to Union station, which has direct train connections to the O’Hare and Midway airports as well as commuter trains to the broader Chicagoland area. In particular, the CTA blue line connects to O’Hare, while the Metra system provides a wide set of connections to other parts of Chicago and its suburbs, which may be of interest for budget hotel options. See the following websites for more info on these systems: CTA system map, Metra system map.
For participants from University of Illinois, besides Amtrak and buses to Union station, UI rides provides direct transportation to 200 S Wacker.
Further information on accessing 200 S Wacker is available via the Illini center website, which is in the same building as DPI.
The conference location is situated in the business district of Chicago, which offers a large variety of lunch options, but tends to be quiet outside of business hours. Some nearby areas with many evening dining options are
Greektown, a few blocks west of the conference location
River North, a few blocks north of the conference location
Fulton market (Randolph st), several blocks northwest of the conference location
Parking garages are available near 200 S Wacker, but rates can be as high as $20-$40 per hour.
For chilcare services, on-site babysitting is available at the following, nearby hotel, Fairmont Chicago at Millennium Park. Childcare centers and external hotel babysitting services, such as Mom's Best Friend, are also available in Chicago.
Please reach out to the organizers with any questions regarding the workshop or local accomodations.
